Bodyssey 2010 is delighted to be holding two amateur competitions this year.  If you have placed in the top three of any competition on the international Face and Body Painting circuit, then we respectfully ask that you sit this one out!  We want to encourage to encourage new competitors and new blood into the competition arena.

 

If you have placed in a Body Painting contest before, but not in a Face Painting element, then you are very welcome to have a go, and vice versa.

PLEASE read the rules carefully to avoid disappointment.  If you have questions – just ask…we are happy to clear up any confusion.

Fashion Through the Ages

In the true spirit of Bodyssey, celebrating Canadian Living Art, a Fashion Show will be held during the Gala Spectacular event to display all the competitive pieces -

 Model Rules:

MODEL REGULATIONS

Body Paint Models must be at least 20 years of age.

Male and females are allowed to model.

Female models must be topless. Pasties are allowed.

Models must wear bottom piece such as bikini bottom, g-string, boy shorts, underwear, panties, etc.

Model is not allowed to help Artist paint (base on color, etc) or give suggestions or assistance.

Model must be painted in designated paint room, not a hotel room.

Body Painter is allowed to paint more than one model.

Model must wear high heels or be barefoot. No boots.

RULES and GUIDELINES

Contestants will have 5 hours to complete their competition piece.

Competitors must be at lest 18 years of age to take part in the Body Painting Competition

At least 80% of the body must be painted.  Points will be awarded for glamour or appropriate embelishment of the face to compliment the fashion piece.

The use of small amounts of fabric to create a small train (in the case of evening gowns say,) IS permitted.  However, please bear in mind the above point about 80%!  Judges will be looking for creativity!

All body painting must be done by the artist. No assistants or team efforts.

Hair and Nails may be prepared before or during the competition.

Stencils are not allowed to be used. Shields will be permitted

The public is not authorized to communicate with the artists during the competition.

No extra time is allotted for setting up.

Designs must be original.   However, your version of an established fashion item IS permitted.

The artist must advise the competition room monitor if he/she must leave momentarily during the competition.

Materials Allowed:

Medium: Face Paint, Body Paint, Airbrush Body Paint and Make Up, Latex, Henna, Mud, Mixed Media, etc. Artist is not limited to only one medium.

The artist can combine mediums (Example: The Artist can airbrush part of the design and then hand paint details). All medium must be products sold on the market as body make up and/or body paint. Only certified make up products and body paint products will be authorized.

Accessories: Pasties, Color Contacts, Glitter, Glitter Spray, Liquid Bling, False Eyelashes, False Nails, Fangs and Gems.

N.B. zips, feathers, fur, lace, jewellery SHOULD be painted.  You are permitted to add these to your design for the fashion show at the Gala Spectacular, however, glued accessories will NOT win you extra points in judging.

Footwear: Heels or Barefoot

Body Piercings must be small and discreet as jewellery is not permitted.

Usage of Airbrush Shields (NOT STENCILS), Brushes, Sponges, Sponge Rollers, Spatulas, Wood sticks and Fingers as applicators.

The model’s hair may be painted.

Extra points WILL NOT be allocated for elaborate head pieces – though they may be used for photography and show purposes after judging.

Materials Not Allowed:

Paint or coloring material that is not designated for the use of body make up is not allowed (Example: Acrylic Paint, Airbrush Textile Paint- such as Createx).

Usage of Stencils (Shields are okay)

Special FX Prosthetics, Foam or Latex Applications, Props Attachments (that you wear or glue on in any way such as devil horns, bolts, etc).

Hand Held and Worn Props (such as wings, goggles, sunglasses, hats, wigs, headpieces, masks, gloves, socks, stockings, hose, etc) Can be used during photo session and the Gala Spectacular event, but must be removed during judging, thus no points will be awarded for those items.

People permitted in the Competition Paint Room:

Artist: Competitor who body paints the model.

Model: Person posing for a competing artist.

Room Monitors: People who make sure everyone is following the rules.

Organizers: Person that organizes and manages competition. Their decision is final and irrefutable.

Judges: Person evaluating the Artist’s work.

All artists and models must sign a release form concerning the use of any official photos and/or images (in any form) relating to the BODYSSEY event and face and/or body paint competition. The event promoters will have publishing rights of these photos and/or images.

All competitors and models will have access to an onsite studio photo session.

Competitors and models may take photos themselves, however be respectful and not take photos of you model in front of the official BODYSSEY photographers’ backdrops.

Each artist must clean up their area when finished.

The artist could be disqualified by an Organizer without appeal in the case of major rule violations or undesirable behavior. The organizer’s decision is final and irrefutable.

Example of undesirable behavior: Artist or model screaming or swearing, artist or model disrupting their neighbor, artist/model ignores competition director, judge or organizer’s warnings.
