BODYSSEY INSTRUCTORS

Instructors:

Many of our instructors are back by popular demand – and this year we are delighted to host new contributors to our event.

More instructors are expected to join this list of talented teachers -

Lucie Brouillard www.luciebrouillard.com  CANADA

To say that we are proud of Lucie is an understatement.  She is the NEW WORLD CHAMPION (World Body painting Championships, Seeboden, Austria, July 18, 2010) as well as  North American Body Painting Champion, World Face Painting Champion, and winner of last year’s Bodyssey body painting competition.  The list of other awards she is credited with is a bit long but you can check them out at her website.  Lucie is most definitely our local treasure.   A master colorist,  her designs are extraordinary.  Lucie began teaching in 2009 and her patient, gentle style has won her a loyal following of students who  have blossomed under her tutelage.   Her Pre class on bodypainting will sell out fast,  so book early if you want to give your work a boost.

***NEW Instructor added!! Rebecca T.

 - www.artybrushstrokes.com  USA – Split Cake Techniques

Bodyssey is delighted to welcome back one of its most popular instructors from 2009! Rebecca’s techniques were a firm favourite of our delegates in Toronto and we are thrilled that she has agreed to come and paint with us in Calgary and show us how its done!
Often referred to as “The Queen of Split Cakes”, she has developed a technique for face and body painting – where with each paint stroke the artist makes - the design is blended, highlighted and shadowed! Rebecca is known for her multi- loaded brush  strokes, making what appear to be complex designs, simple to execute.  Rebecca’s technique is perfect for speeding up your line.  Most of her face designs take 2-3 minutes to complete.  You will enjoy her whimsical style, enthusiasm, passion for the arts and love of teaching.  Rebecca truly strives to see each student succeed!

RemyAudette – www.remx.ca   Air Brush Artist – CANADA

Even at a very young age, REM-X was a disciple of art.  He spent the majority of his time drawing.   Soon after receiving his Bachelor of Industrial Design and earning a special university award, “HYPE 1″ Magazine introduced him as a multi talented Art Designer and Art Director.   He was 26 years old.   But it’s in the field of body painting that REM-X  has mostly devoted his creativity and founded his company using his artist name REM-X.   A name that reflects REM-X’s philosophy as he does not pretend to reinvent the notes. For him, painting is like remixing a melody.   REM-X won third prize at the 2007 International Body Painting contest, Color Mundo,  in Montreal and also a third place in 2008 at Face and Body Art Convention in Orlando.

Since then, organizations from many major cities, including New York, Los Angeles and Toronto, have shown more interest in his work.

Bodyssey is delighted to welcome Remy to our team of talented instructors, and we look forward to the rave reviews we KNOW his masterclass on Air Brush  Body Painting is going to get!  Calgary looks forward to your energy in August Remy!

Cathy Corbett www.magicalfaces.ca  CANADA

Larissa Reinders – Henna Artist www.Atlantichenna.com CANADA
Larissa joined us at Bodyssey 2009 in Toronto….not quite knowing what she had let herself in for.  She had one small class and blew everyone out of the water.  This incredibly talented henna artist,  will wow any aspiring henna technician.  Again, we seem to have found one of the world’s most talented teachers – Larissa will take your Henna abilities to an altitude you didn’t think possible.  DO book a Pre class with her if you are intending to add Henna to your repertoire.  Make sure you don’t miss her workshops at Bodyssey even if it’s just to learn about the ancient art and how even beginners can create small works of art.   (Larissa used to be a Calgarian before she moved to Atlantic Canada – Welcome home Larissa!)

Mark Reid (www.markreidart.com AND www.nabpc.com) USA
Classes Mark will be teaching at Bodyssey

Mark’s recent success in hosting the North American Body Painting Championships on Vegas is just one to add to the long line of achievements this man has under his belt.  Mark is best known in our world for his distinctive cat designs and of course, he was the man to put painted jeans on the map.  We are delighted to see Mark back to Calgary where he is considered a regular instructor with PuttinontheGlitz.ca  Mark will be giving demos on painting  Jeans during the convention – Mark’s Jeans are absolutely perfect for Western Canada – Imagine selling the idea of painted jeans at a Stampede party  to a regular client –it’s money in the bank!   New DVD material and fresh ideas will be the ‘thang’ for Mark at this year’s event, AND he would like to help reluctant bodypainters to find their niche.  Mark loves to take students who have never painted before and coax them through creating a work of art – hey presto! New body painters in town.   Thanks Mark for sharing your brilliance with us.  Mark will be giving a post class on the 30th on Boy Designs (more information on the pre and post class page)

Gary Cole (www.snazaroo.com)  USA

Mr. Snazaroo needs little introduction! – however, since he was sooooooooooo nice  about Bodyssey last year, we thought we would give him special  treatment!  (I suspect he saw Bodyssey 09 as the little convention that might….turning to the little event that COULD).  We are so happy you enjoyed yourself last year Gary ……hold on to your cowboy hat – this year will be even better.  Gary will be sharing his designs in workshops – quick and easy stuff to add to your skill set, giving you the ability to paint faster and therefore, make  more money – simple really – thanks for sharing with Canadians Gary – and welcome back to Calgary.

Léa Selley (http://www.thetattooedlady.ca/ and http://www.avalondesign.com/) CANADA
